Gallery Books To Publish Book By YouTube Personality Tyler Oakley

NEW YORK, May 8, 2015—Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will publish BINGE, a collection of essays by You Tube personality Tyler Oakley, it was announced today by Jennifer Bergstrom, Publisher.

BINGE will be published in the US and worldwide by Simon & Schuster’s international companies on October 20, 2015, and will also be available in audiobook form from Simon & Schuster Audio. Tyler Oakley took the Internet by storm when he uploaded his first video eight years ago, skyrocketing to fame with his signature blend of quirky comedy, personal material, and strong opinions. Since then, the YouTube personality and LGBT advocate has amassed over 6.9 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, and has over 17.4 million followers across his social media platforms. He has been named one of TIME magazine’s 30 Most Influential People on the Internet, has been invited to the White House to meet President Barack Obama, and has interviewed well-known public figures including First Lady Michelle Obama and One Direction. He has also raised over a million dollars for the LGBT youth organization The Trevor Project.

In BINGE, Oakley will get personal with his fans in a way he’s never done before: through a collection of intimate and amusing essays. Never one to shy from embarrassment, Tyler will spill his best untold offcamera moments and allow his fans an intimate look at his life away from the screen.

Bergstrom said, “Not one to content himself with being a global tastemaker and the uncontested boss of YouTube, Tyler Oakley will soon add massively bestselling author to his calling card.”

Oakley added, “While my career has always been about sharing my life, BINGE takes a deeper look into my personal past with never-before-told stories that I’ve finally found the courage to share. I’m always looking for ways to connect with my people and I believe that BINGE will show a more personal side of myself to those who already know me, while also resonating with a whole new audience.”

Senior Editor Jeremie Ruby-Strauss acquired the book from Cait Hoyt at CAA which includes world rights.
