Wibke Grutjen Named Senior Vice President and Global Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Simon & Schuster

NEW YORK, June 25–Simon & Schuster today announced that Wibke Grutjen has been named Senior Vice President, Global Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. The announcement was made by Jonathan Karp, President and CEO of Simon & Schuster, to whom Ms. Grutjen will report.  

Ms. Grutjen, who will also be a member of Simon & Schuster’s Executive Committee, comes to Simon & Schuster from Hachette Book Group, where she has served as Chief Marketing Officer since 2019.

Ms. Grutjen started her career in the United Kingdom as an Editor of ARTbibliographies Modern in Oxford, England. After moving to the United States in 2003, she worked in television production for networks and channels including WETA, ABC News, and The History Channel. In 2007 she joined Penguin UK as Head of Business Information, and in 2010 she joined the Digital Marketing department at Macmillan Publishers in New York, ultimately rising to Vice President, Digital Marketing.

Ms. Grutjen holds Masters degrees from Oxford University and the Free University of Berlin. She lives in New York with her family. She will begin work at Simon & Schuster on August 5, 2024.
