Simon & Schuster To Publish Barry Diller’s Memoir WHO KNEW In May 2025

NEW YORK, October 16, 2024—Simon & Schuster announced today that it will publish Who Knew, a memoir by media mogul Barry Diller, on May 20, 2025. In the book, Diller tells one of the most extraordinary business and personal success stories of our time.

Writing in his own singular voice, Diller delivers both an astute and entertaining business memoir and a surprisingly frank coming-of-age story. After starting his career in the mailroom of the William Morris Agency, Diller went on to have one of the most extraordinary ascents in show business history, inventing the TV Movie of the Week for ABC at age 27, becoming CEO of Paramount Pictures at age 32, and launching the Fox TV network at age 44.

Along the way, Diller oversaw the production of classic films such as Saturday Night Fever, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Grease, and hit TV shows such as The Simpsons, Married…with Children, and Cops. He successfully made the leap from chief executive to entrepreneur when he bought Home Shopping Network, founded IAC, and grew it into a multi-billion-dollar e-commerce business with such breakout brands as Match, Tinder, Angi, and Expedia.

“Barry Diller’s book is about much more than business. It is a remarkably honest and entertaining account of his personal journey, an unconventional love story, and a fascinating tour through show business and digital media,” said Jonathan Karp, Chief Executive Officer of Simon & Schuster and the acquiring editor of the book. “Readers know when an author is telling the truth, and Who Knew is delightfully candid on every page, in addition to being full of insights about our lives at work.”

“I’ve had a history with telling stories and I thought mine was a good yarn,” said Barry Diller, “if I could write it myself and tell it truthfully – I welcome it being out there for others to judge, and hopefully enjoy.”

Simon & Schuster acquired World rights to the work, which was represented by Robert Barnett of Williams & Connolly.
