President Jimmy Carter Reflects On Life At Ninety In A New Memoir Acquired By Simon & Schuster

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY, March 6, 2015―Simon & Schuster announced today the acquisition of A Full Life: Reflections at Ninety, a memoir by President Jimmy Carter, thirty-ninth President of the United States and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Scheduled for publication on July 7, 2015, A Full Life will provide a unique perspective on the president’s public and private life, including his four years in the nation’s highest office, and the decades of domestic and international service that followed, as well as frank considerations of the presidents who have succeeded him, world leaders past and present, and his passions for the causes he cares most about, particularly the condition of women and the deprived of the developing world.

As Carter writes in the book’s opening pages, “Reaching my ninetieth birthday is a good time to look back on moments that changed my life and reflect on some of the memories that are especially important to me. Some of these events affected me profoundly or taught me lessons, large and small. Others are amusing, and some make me contemplate who I was at that time. There are some that I enjoyed and savor, and others that I wish had never happened or that I could change.”

Alice Mayhew, Vice President and Editorial Director of Simon & Schuster, acquired World English rights from Lynn Nesbit, Janklow & Nesbit Associates. The book will be available in hardcover, ebook, and audio formats at publication.

“President Carter’s A Full Life is an extraordinary glimpse into this wonderful man’s wonderful life,” says Mayhew. “It is sharp, witty, revealing, smart. Jimmy Carter has had an almost unbelievably fruitful life and career. As he looks back on it, he tells us that he has never been happier. Who would not want that blessing?”

Jimmy Carter was the thirty-ninth President of the United States, serving from 1977 to 1981. In 1982, he and his wife founded The Carter Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people around the world. Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. He is the author of over two dozen books, including A Call to Action; An Hour Before Daylight; Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid; and Our Endangered Values. He lives in Plains, Georgia.
