Anna Kendrick To Be Published By Touchstone

NEW YORK, April 16, 2015—Touchstone will publish a collection of humorous, autobiographical essays by celebrated actress Anna Kendrick. The yet-to-be-titled book will be published in fall 2016. An audio edition will be released simultaneously by Simon & Schuster Audio.

One of America’s most popular and versatile actresses of stage and screen, nominated for an Academy Award for her breakout role in “Up in the Air,” Anna Kendrick’s autobiographical book will amusingly recount memorable moments throughout her life, from her middle class upbringing in New England to the blockbuster movies that have made her one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses today. Expanding upon the witty and ironic dispatches for which she is known, Anna Kendrick’s essays will offer her one-of-a-kind commentary on the absurdities she’s experienced on her way to and from the heart of pop culture.

“I’m excited to publish my first book, and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I’d like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude, pettiness, and the frequency with which I embarrass myself,” said Anna Kendrick. “And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well-educated and accomplished comedy writers, I’m very, very funny on Twitter, according to Buzzfeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea. Quick question: are run-on sentences still frowned upon? Wait, is ending a sentence with a preposition still frowned upon? I mean, upon frowned? Dammit!”

“We are delighted to publish Anna Kendrick,” said Susan Moldow, Publisher of Touchstone and President of the Scribner Publishing Group. “She is the rare entertainer whose impressive arsenal of talents is equally matched by her sharp wit and wry observations about life.”

“Anna has already endeared herself to millions, thanks to her instantly relatable, selfdeprecating, and very funny voice,” said Lauren Spiegel, senior editor at Touchstone. “It will come as no surprise to her legions of fans that her brilliant comedic instincts translate quite readily to the page.”

Born and raised in Portland, Maine, Anna Kendrick made her Broadway debut at the age of thirteen for her Tony-nominated performance in the musical “High Society.” Since her critically acclaimed role as Natalie Keener in “Up in the Air,” Anna Kendrick has made numerous theatrical appearances, including starring roles in the “The Twilight Saga” and “Pitch Perfect” film franchises. In 2013, she achieved musical success with the #2 Billboard hit song “Cups (When I’m Gone),” featured in “Pitch Perfect.” She will star in “Pitch Perfect 2,” in theaters on May 15.

Lauren Spiegel acquired world and audio rights for the book from Creative Artists Agency.
