Simon & Schuster Teams Up with Together We Rise and Love What Matters to Bring Books to Foster Children

BESTSELLING AUTHORS INCLUDING RICHARD PAUL EVANS AND
MARY ALICE MONROE SUPPORT WITH FACEBOOK LIVE EVENTS

NEW YORK, November 29—Simon & Schuster is working with nonprofit organization Together We Rise to bring the joy of reading to foster children this holiday season. Together We Rise provides duffel bags called “Sweet Cases,” filled with toys, blankets and hygiene products to foster children traveling from home to home. As part of the #BooksILikeToGive campaign, Simon & Schuster will bring children’s books to Sweet Cases for the first time, with a donation of 5,000 books to provide an additional comfort to those children.

Love What Matters, the social media platform devoted to sharing uplifting and positive stories, will assist in creating awareness for the campaign and helping people to learn more about Together We Rise. Those looking to spread the word for the campaign are invited to use #BooksILikeToGive on all social media platforms to join the conversation and share book recommendations.

Simon & Schuster has enlisted the help of some of their most popular authors to bring attention to this worthy cause. On November 30th, Simon & Schuster will host a kick-off event with author Laura Schroff to introduce the campaign and pack some Sweet Cases. Beginning December 4th, Simon & Schuster will sponsor a series of Facebook Live videos with various authors including Richard Paul Evans, Colleen Hoover, Mary Alice Monroe, Nancy Pearl and Lisa See. Each author will offer gift recommendations for the holiday season, and pack a Sweet Case for Together We Rise. The first Live event will be streamed on the Simon & Schuster Facebook page, with each event thereafter being hosted on the respective author’s Facebook page. For a full schedule of events see below.

“We are happy to partner for the first time with Together We Rise,” said Liz Perl, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer at Simon & Schuster. “We greatly admire their unique and important work and are grateful for the opportunity to participate.”
