BRYAN CRANSTON’S MEMOIR

TO BE PUBLISHED

BY SCRIBNER

NEW YORK, April 3, 2014—Scribner will publish a memoir by famed actor Bryan Cranston. The untitled memoir is scheduled for publication in fall 2015. An audio edition will be released simultaneously by Simon & Schuster Audio.

Lauded for his revelatory performance as Walter White on AMC’s Emmy Award-winning series “Breaking Bad,” and currently starring as Lyndon B. Johnson in the critically-acclaimed Broadway play “All the Way,” Cranston will trace the remarkable career of an actor who worked as a journeyman for many years and—through talent, tenacity, and luck—landed a role that transformed his life. A deeply candid work, Cranston’s memoir will offer fascinating insights into his early years, the craft of acting, and his experiences on the landmark series “Breaking Bad.”

“Walter White taught me a lot—some of it useful, some of it dangerous,” said Cranston. “With this book, I want to tell the stories of my life and reveal the secrets and lies that I lived with for six years shooting ‘Breaking Bad’.”

“Bryan Cranston writes the way he acts—with fierce commitment, intelligence and humor,” said Nan Graham, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Scribner. “His memoir is about the work of acting and about his role as Walter White, one of the greatest performances of our time. We are thrilled to be publishing this book on the Scribner list alongside Stephen King’s On Writing and Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up.”

Bryan Cranston won three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Walter White in “Breaking Bad.” He holds the honor of being the first actor in a cable series, and the second lead actor in the history of the Emmy Awards, to win in three consecutive years. Cranston’s performance has also earned him two additional Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe award, and three Screen Actors Guild awards. Additionally, as a producer of the series, Cranston received his fourth Emmy Award when the show won the 2013 Emmy Award for “Best Drama Series.”

In film, Cranston won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his co-starring role in “Argo.” Among his numerous television and film appearances, he was nominated for a Golden Globe and three Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Hal in FOX’s “Malcolm in the Middle.”

Nan Graham and Shannon Welch, Scribner Senior Editor, acquired North American and audio rights for the book, which Shannon Welch will edit. Bryan Cranston is represented by InkWell Management and United Talent Agency.
