Radio and T.V. Personality Charlamagne Tha God to Publish Motivational Journey with Touchstone

NEW YORK, November 1, 2016—Charlamagne Tha God, co-host of the nationally syndicated hip-hop iHeartRadio program The Breakfast Club and personality for MTV and MTV2 will publish his take on a self-help book with Touchstone titled Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to Those Who Create It.  To be published in spring 2017, Black Privilege will share Charlamagne’s unlikely success story and his advice on how embracing one’s truths is a fundamental key to success and happiness.

In Black Privilege, Charlamagne presents his comic, often controversial, and always brutally honest insights on how living an authentic life is the quickest path to success. Beginning with his journey from the small town of Moncks Corner, South Carolina to his headline-grabbing interviews with celebrities like Kanye West, Kevin Hart, Malcom Gladwell, Lena Dunham, Jay Z, and Hillary Clinton, the book will share how he turned his troubled early life around by taking ownership of his many mistakes and refusing to give up. Combining his own story with his signature commitment to honesty, Black Privilege will empower others with the confidence to live their own truths.

“Salute to Touchstone for taking a chance on a kid raised on a dirt road in Moncks Corner, South Carolina,” said Charlamagne Tha God. “Growing up, my mother was an English teacher who thoroughly instilled in me a love for literature. Everything I’ve learned about life has been through reading and my unique experiences. So, getting the opportunity to share the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that I’ve acquired in a book is a dream fulfilled. I’m not an expert at anything, I’ve just lived and learned and I’m still learning, but hopefully what I’ve learned thus far in my life can help you on your journey. This book is just another example of an opportunity I’ve created for myself and I’m going to use this book to teach you how to create your own opportunities and unlock the privilege God has given us all.”

“Charlamagne is one of today’s most fearless and honest voices,” said Touchstone senior editor Matthew Benjamin. “But he’s not pushing buttons just to create controversy; he truly hopes to grow through conversation. I’m excited to be part of that conversation.”

As co-host of The Breakfast Club (nationally syndicated in more than 70 markets), social media influencer, T.V. personality, and an executive producer with his own production company, Charlamagne Tha God has been called “hip-hop’s Howard Stern” by some and the “Prince of Pissing People Off” by many more. He is also co-host of the popular podcast “Brilliant Idiots.” Born and raised in a small town in South Carolina, Charlamagne quickly rose to become one of the most unique and compelling media personalities in the urban landscape. Today, thanks to his controversial opinions and provocative celebrity interviews, he helps drive the daily national conversation about issues related to hip-hop, race, society, and politics.

Matthew Benjamin acquired world and audio rights from Dupree Miller & Associates.
