Bob Dylan Awarded 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature
New York, NY, October 13, 2016―Bob Dylan has been named recipient of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, it was announced today. Mr. Dylan is the first American to receive the prize since 1993, and the first musician to be recognized by the Swedish Academy in the category.

A beautiful, comprehensive volume of Mr. Dylan’s lyrics, Lyrics, 1961-2012, originally scheduled for publication by Simon & Schuster on November 8, 2016, will now be published on November 1. Widely regarded as one of the most important songwriters of our time, Mr. Dylan is responsible for such modern classics as “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Mr. Tambourine Man,” and “The Times They Are a-Changin’.” The Lyrics presents a comprehensive and definitive collection of Dylan’s most recent writing as well as the early works that are such an essential part of the canon. Well known for changing the lyrics to even his best-loved songs, Dylan has edited dozens of songs for this volume.
Bob Dylan has released thirty-six studio albums which collectively have sold over 120 million copies around the world. He has been awarded the French Legion of Honor, a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honor. His memoir, Chronicles: Volume One, also published by Simon & Schuster, spent a year on the New York Times bestseller list.
