Introducing Scribner Magazine, A New Consumer Website

NEW YORK, November 19, 2014—Scribner, the publisher of classic and contemporary writers from Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald to Stephen King and Jeannette Walls, has launched Scribner Magazine—a digital destination for writing about literature, featuring contributions from Scribner authors, editors, fellow Simon & Schuster, Inc. imprints, and other voices in the literary community. The announcement was made today by Nan Graham, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Scribner.

Inspired by the publisher’s celebrated sister publication Scribner’s Magazine (1887-1939), but reimagined for the 21st century reader, Scribner Magazine will feature original writing and interactive media, along with written and audio book excerpts, photo galleries, author-curated music playlists, bookseller reviews, and articles that offer a glimpse inside the world of publishing. Scribner Magazine also integrates Scribner’s popular Twitter feed, and the site highlights current Scribner book news and author events, so consumers can stay informed about their favorite writers.

The inaugural edition features an essay from New York Times bestselling novelist Anthony Doerr on the writing of his National Book Award finalist All The Light We Cannot See, rare Hemingway photos from the publication of Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises: The Hemingway Library Edition, a review of Colm Tóibín’s New York Times bestselling novel Nora Webster by independent bookseller Betsy Burton of The King’s English Bookshop, and an audio recording of writer and filmmaker Miranda July reading the short story “Something That Needs Nothing,” from her award-winning collection, No One Belongs Here More Than You.

“From 1887 to 1939, Charles Scribner’s Sons published many of the finest writers in Scribner’s Magazine,” said Nan Graham. “Scribner has a long tradition of publishing some of literature’s most distinguished voices, and we hope readers will join us in celebrating the continuation of that legacy at Scribner Magazine.”

Scribner, in conjunction with Simon & Schuster Digital, is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Scribner Magazine.
