The New Yorker’s Evan Osnos to Publish Book on Joe Biden with Scribner
NEW YORK, September 8—The New Yorker staff writer and National Book Award-winning author Evan Osnos will publish a book on Joe Biden this fall with Scribner. Titled Joe Biden: The Life, the Run, and What Matters Now and scheduled for publication on October 27, the book will examine Biden’s political career and lifelong quest for the presidency, adapted from Osnos’s in-depth New Yorker profiles of the Democratic presidential nominee, revelatory conversations with President Barack Obama, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, John Kerry, Cory Booker, former advisors, Biden family members, and new reporting. Joe Biden will also be published as an audiobook by Simon & Schuster Audio.
“Six years ago, The New Yorker gave me the chance to start writing about Biden; and I’ve stayed fascinated by the extraordinary course of his life ever since,” said Evan Osnos. “After visiting him at home in July, for my latest story, I decided to pull together my thinking about Biden, and this moment in America, as a longer narrative. I’m honored that Scribner moved mountains to bring the book to publication so urgently.”
“With Joe Biden, Evan Osnos offers a nuanced and deeply-reported portrait of Joe Biden – his political sojourn after being passed over for Hillary Clinton in 2016, his decision to challenge Donald Trump for the presidency, and his choice of Kamala Harris as his running mate,” said Colin Harrison, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Scribner. “We are immensely proud to publish Evan Osnos and this timely and necessary book.”
Evan Osnos joined The New Yorker as a staff writer in 2008, covering politics and foreign affairs. He is the author of the 2014 National Book Award winner Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth, and Faith in the New China, which was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Previously, Osnos worked as Beijing bureau chief for the Chicago Tribune, where he was part of a team that won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. He is a three-time recipient of the Overseas Press Club Award, among other honors. He lives in Washington, D.C.
Colin Harrison acquired North American and audio rights from literary agent Jennifer Joel of ICM Partners.
