North Star Way to Publish New Book by Singer, Actress, Talk Show Host Keke Palmer
New York, NY, March 30, 2016 – North Star Way, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will publish I DON’T BELONG TO YOU: Quiet the Noise and Find Your Voice by Keke Palmer, recording artist and popular Scream Queens and Grease Live! actress. News of the acquisition was announced by Michele Martin, North Star Way’s Vice President and Publisher.
As a successful singer, actress and talk show host, Keke Palmer has always used her huge social media following as a platform to engage with her fans about the issues that matter to their generation. But now, she will communicate candidly, for the first time, in a book that will help empower other young people to succeed. I DON’T BELONG TO YOU is her sometimes serious, often hilarious, and always inspiring guide that encourages young women to live a life full of ownership and confidence. While on the surface, it may appear that Keke has it made, she has grappled with the same issues all young women wrestle with—identity, self-worth, love, sexuality, heartbreak, and family. Her new book is filled with revealing stories from her personal and professional life, plus quotes, texts, song lyrics, and funny memes that have provided inspiration. With a voice of empathy, tough love, and determination, Keke shares the challenges and triumphs she has experienced on her journey to finding her own voice and creating a beautiful life.
Keke Palmer is an actress, singer, author, humanitarian, and a passionate voice for her generation who has appeared in such films as Akeelah and the Bee, Barbershop 2, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Madea’s Family Reunion, Longshots & Joyful Noise. Next up, she will be heard on the big screen in sequel, Ice Age: Collision Course opening this summer and her film Brotherly Love can currently be seen on Netflix. She became the youngest talk show host in history with her show “Just Keke,” and also made history as the first black ‘Cinderella’ in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical on Broadway. She previously starred in her own Nickelodeon television series True Jackson, VP; guest-starred on Showtime’s critically acclaimed drama, Masters of Sex, is a SAG nominee for her work opposite William H. Macy in The Wool Cap and starred this January in Grease Live!, a Fox live musical television special that debuted to 12.5 million viewers. She also recently enjoyed great success via her starring role as ‘Zayday Williams’ in Ryan Murphy’s hit show Scream Queens, alongside Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, and Jamie Lee Curtis. She will reprise the role in the just-announced season two of Murphy’s beloved series, due to return later this year. On the music front, March 4th marked the release date for “Enemiez” the first single off her forthcoming album for Island Records scheduled to drop this fall.
World rights were acquired through Lacy Lynch at Dupree/Miller & Associates. An October 2016 publication is planned.
